An overview of all the fixes and improvements we've added this week
It's release time, and this week we've really pushed ourselves. The piano roll is completely revamped, and we've made many more tweaks to really give you that genuine audio creation experience.
The piano roll features a brand-new look, with the aim of making the aesthetics more of an asset instead of a hindrance (speaking of which, look forward to asset related changes in the following weeks!). Never before has editing MIDI been as easy either, featuring more intuitive ways to achieve actions.
Did you find positioning MIDI notes a little too finicky? You can now make the notes snap to a grid, ensuring equal and precise placement. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg! Load up a session now and create MIDI to explore the plethora of quality of life changes we've made. In the near future we're looking to make MIDI changes stored more efficiently.
Here is a quick summary of the changes we've made to the MIDI editor, outside of making it look awesome:
Dynamic Grid: Change the grid size on the left to see exactly where your notes will snap to. Can also toggle this on or off.
Multi-Select: A basic feature, but we've added it here. Select multiple notes at once to edit them together.
Synthesiser Control: Show the synth above the piano-roll to edit the synth. The on-screen keyboard can be used to play the synth.
Editing Region: The region overlay now has grabbers at the top to allow you to trim the left and right parts of the region with finer control.
Take Sets: After a certain period of time, the edits get commited to a new MIDI file. You can go back to a previous version at any time using the take list on the left.
Modifier Keys: Use the SHIFT key to fine drag/trim a note.
That's right, you can now drag multiple tracks much more seamlessly in the timeline view. Long gone are the days of having to drag each individual track into a group manually, or to the start of a session. Simply select multiple tracks and drag to your heart's content. This extends to all track types, and you can even do cool new things like moving multiple tracks into or out of a group. You could say that we're... on track. Look forward to this being extended to other views soon!
Fixed an issue where sometimes the session loop wasn't sent to the database so when you reloaded it loaded an older loop.
Prevent playback from resuming once stopped when modifying the session loop.
Further changes to ensure usability in other browsers like Chrome and Safari.
Reordering tracks should retain the changes more accurately on reload.
The ratio slider in the plugin bar now shows the value to 1 decimal point until it reaches double digits, where it then shows as an integer value.
