Remote Control

Goodies for podcast recording and collaborative music production

Fuelled by feedback on our collaborative functionality, and following increased used in educational settings, we’ve been hard at work implementing new features that improve working together remotely or even in the same (class)room.

Follow the leader

One downside of not being in the same place when making music together, is that you don’t hear the same thing at the same time. Until now! When you’re in a collaborative session, click the pawn icon next to the transport buttons and your collaborators will follow your playback. You can then talk about it over video or audio chat in real time, instead of first instructing them to go navigate to a particular section. As leader, you can even initiate a recording of selected participants (including yourself), which is ideal for making a podcast with remote guests.

Full screen video mode

Podcasting in particular is looking much better now with this full screen video chat! Just click the wide screen icon on the top right of the video, and all you’ll see (and everyone else if you’re a leader) are your co-podcasters’ faces. But music producers will also appreciate chatting with each other in full screen view.

EQ & Compression visualised

By popular demand, the essential EQ and Compression FX now have a real-time visualisation. On the EQ, you can enable the spectrogram to see what the signal looks like in the frequency domain. On the Compressor, you will see a gain reduction meter to indicate what effect your settings actually have on the incoming audio.
